The hotel was in an area we knew and liked. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. We had a very comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. We would be happy to stay there again.

    • Older travelers

The staff were lovely and courteous all the time. All staff spoke English, which was excellent. The room was very clean and the breakfast was good. The hotel is ideal for the city centre and an area to drink and eat for a good price. Hotel also very near U-Bahn. The sound- proofing worked very well!

We had no major problems at all. To be fair the rooms are a little small. We thought the room was a bit pricey - approx. £100 per night. The decor of the hotel was quite traditional and may not suit some. For some reason I did not sleep well at this hotel (5 nights) and I managed to sleep better in other hotels on the holiday. Not sure if this was me!

Quiet and sophisticated enviroment near the University. Many Bavarian-style places to have dinner nearby. The Hotel has "Charm of the old times". Very friendly and efficient staff. To U-Bahn stop 5 min. walking. Clean and tidy.

Rooms and the elevator very (!) small, like ship`s cabins. No ventilation system, only way to get fresh air is to open the window.

The hotel is well located and within walking distance from the Residenz, Marienplatz, Museums, Pinakoteks as well as the English Garden. The rooms were airconditioned and sound proof. Breakfast with a wide selection included. Free internet access. Lots of affordable restaurants in the neighborhood.

    • Family with children
      10.0

The room and the service were great. Hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. The morning breakfast was always both a treat and relaxing. The location, in the University district, was very close to Marienplatz (and from there, the train station) and offerred many affordable places to eat nearby.

    • Older travelers
      9.0

This hotel is in a great location. It's within easy walking distance of both Marienplatz and the Englischer Garten and is pretty reasonably priced for Munich. We were given a key to park our car across the street in a private, gated lot and we saw everything we wanted to see on foot.

    • Single
      8.2

Very friendly staff and the room was extremely quiet, even though it was situated at the front of the hotel. Excellent isolation. Nice lively neighborhood (University!), lots of places to eat/drink, and only 2 mins walk from U-Bahn station

Internet connection was a bit flakey, and there are no light blocking curtains

    • Older travelers
      7.0

The hotel met my minimum criteria of clean, quiet, safe, and internet. The room was a bit small for two people, but not unusually so for Europe. Even so, it was comfortable and functional. Good water pressure and lots of hot water in the shower.

"Free Internet" in the rest of the world implies "always on". At mD Hauser, you get a ticket with a user name and password but only get 5 hours of internet per ticket. Each time you run out, you have to get a new ticket from the lobby. Very inconvenient for business travelers. Despite it being opening weekend for Oktoberfest, I thought the price too high for what I got. I have answered "yes" to the question "would you recommend this hotel?", but the true answer is closer to "maybe".

    • Family with children
      10.0

The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and spacious for 3 people. The location of the hotel is close to an underground station which could take you to any touring places and shopping districts. Several famous sightseeing places are within 10 minute walking distance. We had a wonderful experience staying at the hotel.

    • Older travelers

      The bed was comfortable.Nice entrance

Nice entrance, but on going up the very creaky stairs to the 'reception' it became more and more claustriphobic and depressing. Miserable receptionist and it felt the hotel belonged to the 1950s. The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in and smelled of age and fungus. I could not walk round the bed without difficulty. The bathroom was clean but tiny. The television belonged in a museum. The air conditioning just moved the air about and introduced a smell of damp to the room . There were elements you would find in a good hotel like a safe and if the room had been twice the size then it may have been acceptable but it felt like a prison cell. The breakfast room was two tiny rooms and you could not move without rubbing shoulders with another guest. The breakfast looked pretty but difficult to get at. I could eat very little except boiled eggs. The bread was stale and jam unidentifieble.. All in all It was a very depressing end to my holiday.

    • Group of friends

Very central location with a fantastic bar near by. Friendly staff and a good breakfast.

The room was on the small side given how much we were paying.

    • Group of friends
      5.8

Good location. The hotel was just a skip and a hop away from a metro station as well as a central tourist location for finer dining, shopping, etc. The beds were comfortable and clean although a bit too close to one another.

The man at reception was rude. We asked him a simple question regarding his internet services and he took the opportunity to reply condescendingly. Breakfast was also lacking; we skipped it every morning to get some better options elsewhere. And as a lot of other reviewers have been saying, the rooms were indeed small. There wasn't much room to move around and our bags were constantly in the way since we had no other choice but to leave them on the floor, leaving us with even less room to maneuver in this already tiny room. Lastly, the shower: please, please, please be extra cautious when exiting the shower. It's slightly elevated above the bathroom floor, and getting out of the tiny shower can be extremely dangerous. I nearly slipped my first time, and I had to be extra cautious every time after that. If you stay there you'll see what I mean. Just please be extra careful.

    • Single

Although small, the single rooms are nicely furnished with everything needed. Newly renovated bathrooms, sound-proof windows, air conditioning, free internet, well-assorted breakfast. Good accomodation for a business or city trip.

    • Single

Great little room very near the city centre

    • Older travelers
      8.8

We were able to be quickly upgraded to a 3-person room (for a very small cost) when we found the double room really pretty small. The location was excellent for our interest: the architecture of the Feldherrenhalle, Koenigs platz and Shwabing, as well the marvellous museums: the three main art galleries and the exhibition at the Hypo bank culture centre.

Breakfast room rather small. German hotels often have excellent home-made- type jam - here it was not so successful. But otherwise the range and selection on offer at breakfast was very good.
